Women's Volleyball Sweeps York College

JAMAICA, N.Y. — Lauren GaNun (Breezy Point, N.Y./Fontbonne Hall) posted match highs of 17 kills and 13 digs en route to her third double-double of the season powering the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's volleyball team to a straight set, non-conference victory over York College (N.Y.) on Monday night.

How It Happened

  • York led by as many as five in the opening set at the 12-7 mark, before SJC drew even at 15-15 and closed the set on a 10-3 spurt, behind five of GaNun's nine kills in the frame.
  • The Lady Bears built an early lead in the second, but both squads found themselves knotted again midway through the set at 14-all, as six York errors helped SJC pull away to a 25-18 set victory.
  • The final stanza was all St. Joseph's as they had their best hitting set of the match (11 kills, .280) while the hosts could only muster one kill while committing nine errors.

For the Lady Bears

  • GaNun hit a blistering .515 for the match, with no attack errors on 33 swings to reach double-digit kills for the sixth time this season.
  • Anna Carbone directed the offense to a season-best .211 hitting percentage with six different Lady Bears registering a kill, handing out 21 assists with six digs and four kills.
  • Samantha Rossi matched a career high with four kills.
  • Crystan Morgan had three kills, three aces and three digs.

For the Cardinals

  • Renee Daley recorded an 11-kill, 11-dig double-double
