Morales Matches Season High in Digs in Women's Volleyball Loss to SJC Long Island
PATCHOGUE, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's volleyball team dropped a Skyline Conference match to sibling school St. Joseph's College (Long Island) by a score of 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-21) at the Danzi Center on Wednesday night.
How it Happened
The Golden Eagles (2-8, 1-0 Skyline) took control early in the first frame, scoring seven of the first nine points of the match, en route to the 25-16 set victory.
Briana Marrazzo (East Elmhurst, N.Y./St. John's Prep) opened the second frame with a kill, to which the Golden Eagles responded with four consecutive points. The Bears (4-4, 1-1 Skyline) tied the score at 10-10, and trailed only 19-17 later in the set, but could not rally for a comeback, as the home team trotted to the 25-17 win.
The Bears offense clicked midway through the third set, climbing back to a 22-20 deficit after being behind 19-11, a run capped off by a kill from Julie Boyd (Staten Island, N.Y./Notre Dame Academy). Brooklyn's attempt to force an extra set was squashed, however, as Long Island hung on to win the final set 25-21.
