BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's volleyball team dropped a Skyline Conference matchup against United States Merchant Marine Academy in straight sets (25-9, 25-10, 25-15) at The Hill Center on Thursday evening.

How it Happened

The Mariners (15-6, 8-1 Skyline) jumped out in the first frame firing off three straight service aces, and did not surrender the lead for the remainder of the set, strolling to the 25-9 victory.

The Bears (7-8, 4-3 Skyline) came out stronger in the second set, competing in an early back-and-forth which saw them trailing 10-8. However, a 15-2 run from the visitors kept the Brooklyn squad from leveling the series.

A service ace by Kaitlyn Intindola (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) capped off a 5-0 run for the Bears to open up the third frame. After a run of their own, the Mariners led 11-8, and eventually won the final set 25-15.
