Coach Franzese Honored By Northeast Conference

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) first-year head women's volleyball coach Vera Franzese was recently featured by the Northeast Conference (NEC) as part of a yearlong celebration by the league for its 40th anniversary.

An alumna of Long Island University who played from 2011 to 2014, Franzese (then Djuric) was a four-time NEC Setter of the Year — the only student-athlete in league history to accomplish the feat — and a three-time First Team All-NEC selection. She was also named Tournament MVP twice as she led the Blackbirds to three NEC tournament titles and three trips to the NCAA tournament.

Franzese was honored to the NEC Volleyball Mount Rushmore where the league selected four student-athletes from a sport on one hypothetical mountain. In addition, she also was featured in an "I Was An NEC Student-Athlete" piece where she reflected on her distinguished playing career and also spoke about her new role as head coach for the Bears. Congratulations Coach V!
