Lauren GaNun notched her 1,000th career kill in the first set of the Bears' Oct. 8 match vs. John Jay.

2015 Season Highlights: Picked up her 1,000th career kill Thursday night (Oct. 8) against John Jay...has reached double-digit kills in all but one match this season, averaging a team-leading 4.05 kills per set and has recorded five double-doubles…In the Skyline Conference match against Maritime on 10/4, pounded a season-high 27 kills, while also adding 12 digs and two blocks…In the straight-set victory over York (N.Y. - Sept. 28), Lauren recorded a .515 hitting percentage, slamming 17 kills against no errors on 33 swings…Was named to the Skyline Conference honor roll three times this season and was named the Co-Player of the Week on 10/5…Currently leads the league in kills per set (4.33) and ranked fourth in blocks (0.56).
 
Career Highlights: Is just the second Lady Bear to join the 1,000-kill club…Holds a career 3.83 kills per set average and .279 hitting percentage…Ranks second in SJC history in kills and third in blocks… Holds the SJC single-game records with 40 kills and 99 attack attempts in a five-set marathon over Culinary Institute on 10/18/2014…Also holds the SJC single-game record for blocks with eight against Lehman on 10/18/2014…Prior to joining the Skyline Conference, she was named an All-Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Team and All-Association of Division III Independents First Team selection her first three seasons.
 
In The Classroom: Lauren is a psychology major with a cumulative GPA of 3.506.
 
Did You Know?: Lauren is a lifeguard in Breezy Point over the summers…She is also a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and serves as a manager for the women’s basketball team.
"Lauren is the strongest hitter on the team.  She is able to see the entire court which allows her find the open spots.  This has been key for her to reach 1000 kills, which is a tremendous accomplishment."
