Cross Country Begins 2013 Season at CSI Development Meet

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Senior Paul Milazzo and senior Kelly McNamee were the lead runners for the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's and women's cross country teams at the College of Staten Island Development Meet on Sunday afternoon at Van Cortlandt Park.

In the team's season opener, Milazzo finished in 29th place overall in his first race at St. Joseph's with a time of 31:49 on the 8K course. Thomas Rushin came in second for the Bears in 34:14 and rounding out the scoring five were Taso Kostikas (41:13), Joe Mendez (42:32) and Raul Urshela (52:53).

On the women's side, McNamee finished in 28:02 pacing the Lady Bears with her 37th place finish. Following McNamee across the finish line were Melissa Morrice (32:57) Lauren Conter (36:09), Kristin D'Chiutiis (37:46) and Maria Randazzo (38:24).

St. Joseph's (L.I.) captured the title in both the men's and women's team competitions placing all five scoring runners in the top 25.

The Bears and Lady Bears will return to action on Saturday, October 5th at the NJIT: Technology XC Challenge with the women's race starting at 11 a.m. followed by the men's at 12 p.m.
