Men's and Women's Cross Country Have Season Best Finishes at CSI Invitational

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Reigning Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) Men's Cross Country Player of the Week senior Paul Milazzo finished 9th overall earning medalist honors while senior Kelly McNamee placed 14th in pacing both the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's and women's cross country teams to season-best performances at the CSI 5K Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Cloves Lake Park.

Milazzo paced the Bears to an 8th place team finish out of 12 scoring teams with his time of 17:55 while sophomore Thomas Rushin broke 20 minutes on a 5K course for the first time in his collegiate career posting a time of 19:28 to finish 33rd overall.  Rounding out the scoring five for the Bears was sophomore Taso Kostikas (22:15), senior Joe Mendez (23:50) and senior John Moore (28:22) who finished under 30 minutes for the first time in his collegiate career in a 5K event.

In leading the Lady Bears to a 7th place team finish out of 12 total teams, McNamee posted a career-best mark of 23:40 in the 5K race. Senior Melissa Morrice finished second for St. Joseph's with a time of 26:39, good for 33rd overall. Junior Kristin D'Chiutiis placed 49th overall finishing with a time of 28:40. Junior Lauren Conter (30:24) and freshman Karen Hernandez (31:09) rounded out the scoring five for the Lady Bears completing the course in 55th and 59th place overall respectively.

Both the Bears and Lady Bears return to action on Sunday, October 20th as they take part in the HVIAC Championships at Bard College. Meet is set to start at 11:00 a.m.
