Kostikas Named HVIAC Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) has named sophomore Taso Kostikas (Brooklyn, N.Y./Midwood) as its men's cross country Rookie of the Week after the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's cross country team had their highest finish of the season.

Kostikas helped the Bears secure an 8th place team finish at the CSI Invitational, covering the 5K course in a career-best time of 22:15. The sophomore, who was the third Bear to cross the finish line, took 58th for the best finish of his career.

The sophomore earns his first nod in the sport of cross country but was named men's volleyball Rookie of the Week twice a year ago and was named to the All-Conference Team.

St. Joseph's takes part in the HVIAC Championships at Bard College on Sunday, October 20th. Race is set to start at 11 a.m.
