Cross Country Competes at Staten Island Invitational

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's and women's cross country competed in the CSI Invitational hosted by the College of Staten Island on Sunday.

Junior Thomas Rushin led the Bears to a 19th place team finish out of 21 scoring teams, covering the 5-kilometer course at Clove Lakes Park in 19:25, earning 50th place in a field of 173 overall runners.

Chris Labady (22.37), Mathew Smith (24:12), Clyde Delacruz (29:41), Dickson Tan (32:05) rounded out the scoring five for the Bears.

In the women's race, freshman Rebecca Ramirez led the Lady Bears to a 18th place team finish out of 19 team. The rookie crossed the finish line first for St. Joseph's for the second straight meet, covering the 5-kilometer course in 27:07 to earn 87th place out of 162 overall runners.

Katie Wenzler (29:26), Lauren Conter (33:13), Kristin Ferrigno (36:21) and Laura Innocente (36:24) completed the scoring for St. Joseph's.

USMMA captured the team title in the men's competition while St. Joseph's (L.I.) took home top honors in the women's meet.

St. Joseph's will face Medgar Evers College in a dual on Wednesday, October 1st at 5 p.m. at Prospect Park.
