Tracy and Ramirez Lead Cross Country in York Invitational

BRONX, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's and women's cross country teams participated in the York College (N.Y.) Invitational on Sunday morning at Van Cortlandt Park.

Freshman Raquel Ramirez (Woodhaven, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) was the first Bear to cross the finish line in the 6K women's race, completing the course in 36:38.20, placing her 53rd overall among 97 racers.

For the men's meet, Christopher Tracy (Glendale, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) finished first for SJC for the second straight week. The rookie ran the 8K in 36:12.30, good enough for 26th place between 100 racers. George Garyfallos (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xaverian) was the next Bears finisher, finishing the race in 42:28.70. As a team, the men finished in 11th place among 13 participating colleges.

Up Next For the Bears

St. Joseph's will travel to Newark, N.J., to participate in the NJIT Highlander Challenge on Saturday, October 5. Race time for the women is set for 11:00 a.m., followed by the men at noon.
