Buchanan and Tracy Pace Cross Country at SJC Invitational

KINGS PARK, N.Y. — Sophomore Alexis Buchanan (Murrieta, Calif./Murrieta) and freshman Christopher Tracy (Glendale, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) led the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's and men's cross country teams to a 20th and 21st place finish, respectively, at the St. Joseph's College Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Sunken Meadow State Park.

Buchanan covered the 5K track in 24:52 to claim 102nd place in the field of 187 runners. Madison Erhardt (Baltimore, Md./Dulaney) followed in 119th place with a time of 26:15 and Raquel Ramirez crossed five runners later in 26:40. As a team, the Bears bested four other squads—including one Skyline team—in the 24-team field.

Tracy posted a 5-mile time of 33:24 to finish in 102nd place. Fellow rookie Christopher Marina followed in 141st clocking in at 36:13. George Garyfallos (38:57, 167th), Michael Kowlessar (41:18, 180th), and Juan Sandoval (44:38, 193rd) all shaved over two minutes off their time from last year's race to round out the scoring five that placed 21st in the 25-team field.

The Bears have nearly two weeks off before culminating their season at the 2019 Skyline Conference Championships on Thursday, October 31 at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome in Milton, N.Y.
