Statement on Spectators from Skyline Commissioner Linda Bruno

It has been a year since we competed on our campuses on a regular basis, and we have not had a Skyline championship since last February.  I am thrilled that our schools have worked so diligently to put plans in place to move forward with our spring seasons, which start in full this weekend.

We have a myriad of regulations and procedures all of our institutions are following to make certain we can compete safely.  In addition to temperature checks, testing and keeping distance, we are faced with other issues such as sanitization of the venue, equipment and all areas that team members may access.

In an effort to keep our team members safe, we are not permitting spectators. I understand that a huge part of competition for our student-athletes is to have their family and friends cheering them on.  And I also know how much it means to those of you who want to show your support to be able to do so.

This is our first full weekend of Skyline competition and the goal is to complete the seasons and crown conference champions in all of our spring sports.  Competing safely is the priority and not having spectators as we try to move forward is going to be very helpful to all of our schools as they follow the many new regulations we have in place.  If we see that things change, we will of course re-evaluate all of our protocols.

Thank you for your patience as we navigate through this crisis.  Your support will never go unnoticed or unappreciated.
