FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — Senior C.J. Bunnicelli allowed just one run and struck out five and the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) baseball team doubled up first-place Farmingdale State College in hits, 12-6, en route to a 4-1 Skyline Conference win on Tuesday evening at the FSC Baseball Stadium.

Bunnicelli scattered six hits over seven innings and recorded his first win of the season (1-2).

Thomas Airey and Anthony Hernandez combined for six of the Bears' 12 hits, each going 3-for-4 at the plate. Lucas Collet and Louis Lombardi also had multi-hit games, each knocking a pair of hits. Kevin Reyes drove in two runs, while Airey and Lombardi had a RBI each.

The victory marked the Bears' (2-12, 1-8 Skyline) first win against the Rams (8-3, 8-1 Skyline) since March 30, 2018, while the loss was Farmingdale State's first in conference play since March 23, 2019, when they fell 5-2 to the United States Merchant Marine Academy.

How It Happened

A trio of one-out singles in the top of the second brought in Collet for the game's opening run. Kevin Reyes' two-RBI double in the third gave the Bears a 3-0 advantage.

The Rams' lone run of the contest came in the home half of the fifth as Philip Gerard scored on a double by Thomas Secaira. However, the damage was minimal as Bunnicelli recorded his fifth strikeout to leaving a pair of runners stranded in scoring position.

The Bears restored their three-run lead in the eighth as Lombardi's double found the right-centerfield gap to send Reyes home, taking the 4-1 lead.

Joe Acampora took the hill in the bottom of the eighth and got the game's final six outs to pick up his first career save and preserve the SJC win.
