Hernandez Garners Skyline All-Conference Accolades; Collet Lands on All-Sportsmanship Team

NEW YORK — Leading the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) baseball team in batting over the 2021 campaign, freshman outfielder Anthony Hernandez (Selden, N.Y./Newfield) has been named to the Skyline Conference Baseball All-Conference Second Team as announced by the league this afternoon. Sophomore shortstop Lucas Collet (Toulouse, France/Lyc'ee Bellevue) was also honored on the All-Sportsmanship Team.

Hernandez played and started in all 22 games and led the Bears with a .333 batting average, finishing tied for 10th in the Skyline with 25 hits. The true freshman assembled two 4-for-5 outings this season with one double against Old Westbury and again against Maritime and totaled six multi-hit games, which led the team. Hernandez led the team with six stolen bases, was second on the team with 13 runs scored, and also collected eight RBI, three doubles, and a triple.

Hernandez is the eighth All-Skyline selection since the Bears first season in the league in 2016 and the first freshman to receive the accolade.

Collet also played and started in every game for the Bears at shortstop compiling a .265 batting average with 18 hits, 10 runs scored, six RBI, three doubles, and five stolen bases. He assembled four multi-hit games this season and closed out the season on a four-game hitting streak. Over the three-game series with eventual league champion USMMA, the sophomore batted .417 and drove in a team-high four RBI to earn a spot on the weekly honor roll.

The All-Conference teams and Player, Pitcher, Rookie, and Coach of the Year are voted on by the league's head coaches.
