Farmingdale State Stymies Men's Basketball to Remain Undefeated in Skyline

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — Sophomore Joseph Idyahia (Glendale, N.Y./Christ the King) freshman Stephane Etheart (Hollis Hills, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) had 11 points each as the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's basketball team couldn't hand Farmingdale State College their first conference loss, falling 87-54 on the road on Wednesday night.

• An 11-0 run over two minutes gave the Rams a 13 point lead that the extended into a 45-28 lead at the intermission.

How it Happened

• Stephane Etheart scored five quick points early to give the Bears the early lead. After a Joseph Idyahia triple cut the deficit to two, the Rams erupted for 11 straight points in a span of just under two minutes to move ahead by double digits.
• Etheart and Kavan Meiner scored back-to-back baskets to bring the deficit to seven momentarily but the hosts used a late surge to close out the frame to go into the lockers up 17, 45-28.
• SJC managed to shoot just 27 percent in the second stanza and Rams continued to pull away in the second stanza.

For the Bears

• Freshman Stephane Etheart shared team-high honors with 11 points on 5-of-12 shooting along with five rebounds and three steals.
• Sophomore Joseph Idyahia shot 3-of-5 from three-point land to also finish with 11 points, three rebounds, three steals and two assists.
• Freshman Kavan Meiner rounded out three in double figures with 10 points on 5-of-9 shooting and grabbed three boards.
• Senior Christian Giles handed out six assists and chipped in five points.
