Men’s Soccer Drops Decision to Manhattanville

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's soccer team (3-8-1, 1-3-0 Skyline) were defeated by conference foe Manhattanville College (6-2-1, 3-0-2 Skyline), 9-1, on Saturday afternoon from Aviator Field. Mohamed Ndiaye Jr. (Senegal, West Africa/Washington Irving) scored the lone goal of the game for the Bears.

How it Happened

The Bears began the match on the right foot, getting on the board in the 11th minute when Joseph Sepulveda's (East Elmhurst, N.Y./Bayside) corner kick found Ndiaye Jr., who headed the ball into the goal. The visiting Valiants drew the match level five minutes later with a score by Kendall Davis. Davis then gave the Valiants a 2-1 lead with a 21st-minute goal. Manhattanville extended their lead to 5-1 prior to the intermission, which included Davis completing a first-half hat trick.

Manhattanville tacked on four second-half goals in a 15-minute span, resulting in the 9-1 scoreline.

For the Bears

  • Ndiaye Jr's. goal brought him to six on the season, one behind Sepulveda for first on the team.
  • Both of Sepulveda's shots found the face of goal, leading the Bears in both categories.
  • Alejandro Oliveros (Brooklyn, N.Y./Grover Cleveland) stopped six Valiant shots.
