THROGGS NECK, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's soccer team's 2019 season came to a close on Tuesday night as they dropped a narrow 1-0 decision to Maritime College from Reinhart Field. The Bears end the season with an overall record of 5-12-2 and 3-7-1 record in Skyline Conference play.

How it Happened

Alejandro Oliveros (Brooklyn, N.Y./Grover Cleveland) made a pair of saves in the opening five minutes, preventing the Privateers (10-9-1, 5-5-1 Skyline) from taking an early lead. Both sides saw multiple chances to take a first-half lead combining for 13 shots. Oliveros ended the half with a total of four stops as the period ended in a scoreless draw.

Five minutes into the second frame, the Bears could not get the ball past Michael Rodriguez, as the Maritime keeper came up with three saves in 20 seconds. The hosts took the 1-0 advantage on a 69th-minute goal by midfielder Sean O'Neil. Oliveros kept the Privateers from doing further damage, saving three shots in the final half-hour of play and registering eight saves throughout the 90 minutes.
