Sepulveda Tabbed All-Skyline Men’s Soccer First Team; Sanchez Named to All-Sportsmanship Team

NEW YORK — Sophomore Joseph Sepulveda (East Elmhurst, N.Y./Bayside) was named to the All-Skyline Conference men's soccer first team while fellow sophomore William Sanchez (Jamaica, N.Y./Bayside) was selected to the All-Sportsmanship team, the conference announced earlier today.

Having started in all but one game this season, Sepulveda ended the year with a conference-leading 14 goals and shots on goal per game with 2.16. He also placed in the top three in four additional offensive categories including 33 points, good for second in the Skyline. Sepulveda opened his goal-scoring tally with his first career hat trick in a 5-3 triumph against York College. The midfielder recorded two more multi-goal games against USMMA and Sarah Lawrence and found the back of the net in 10 of 19 games played.

Sepulveda's five assists were good for second on the team, bringing his career total to 13. Currently ranked second all-time, he is just three assists shy from tying the Bears program record. He is the second Bear in program history to receive All-Skyline first-team accolades.

Sanchez suited up in 18 of 19 games for the Bears this season, playing 90-plus minutes in 15 contests. The defender scored his first career goal off an 87th-minute corner kick in the third game of the season at Baruch on Randall's Island.

The Bears ended the 2019 season in ninth place in the conference, going 3-7-1 to go along with a 5-12-2 overall record.

The all-conference teams and Player, Rookie, and Coach of the Year awards are voted on by the Skyline Conference's 12 head men's soccer coaches based on regular-season play.
