Men’s Soccer Streak Halted at Bard

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's soccer team suffered their first loss in three games with a 3-0 road loss to Bard College on Saturday evening at Ferrari Field.

The Bears (2-2) finish non-league play at a level .500 and will open Skyline Conference play on Tuesday.

How it Happened

Despite a 15-2 shot discrepancy for the hosts in the first half, the Bears trailed by only one, 1-0, at the intermission after a goal by Sulayman Jaiteh in the 40th minute.

The Raptors (3-2) converted a penalty kick in the 59th minute and tacked on another goal in the 68th minute to move ahead 3-0.

For the Bears

  • Jesus Cano (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Cristo Rey Brooklyn), Leonel Bravo (Astoria, N.Y. / Queens Vocational & Technical), and Alex Helfant (Quito, Ecuador / Alliance Academy International) each registered a shot for the navy and gray.
  • Alejandro Oliveros (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Grover Cleveland) made seven saves in defeat facing a barrage of 25 shots.
