Men’s Volleyball Opens Boston Trip With Loss to Emerson

BOSTON, Mass. — Six different Bears recorded multiple kills each, but the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's volleyball team suffered a straight-set loss to Emerson College on Friday evening at Brown & Plofker Gym.

Freshman Ramizjon Khudoyorov (Brooklyn, N.Y./Edward R. Murrow) paced the offense with a season-high seven kills.

How it Happened

Emerson (5-6) ran off four straight to take a 6-2 lead and remained on top. SJC (2-6) pulled within three on multiple occasions, but despite putting away 10 kills in the set couldn't keep pace with the hosts falling 25-14.

The hosts raced out to a 5-0 lead in the second and a 10-4 lead in the third and held the Bears to 13 points in the final two frames to secure the win.

For the Bears

  • Khudoyorov matched his team-high seven kills with a team-high-tying five digs.
  • Seniors Stephen Eddy (Glendale, N.Y./Christ the King) and Dejon St. Rose-Cuffy (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) had four kills each. Eddy also had five digs, two aces, and a block. St. Rose-Cuffy also had a pair of blocks.
  • Juan Herran Ocampo (Armenia, Colombia/Manhattan Comprehensive Night and Day) handed out 12 assists and had four digs and two kills.
