Hartwig Named to NFCA All-Region First Team

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Following a record-setting campaign, St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) junior Ashleigh Hartwig (Santee, Calif./West Hills) has been honored by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) selected to the Division III All-Northeast Region First Team, announced by the Association this afternoon.

Hartwig receives All-Region honors for the second time in her career after a Second Team nod as a freshman in 2019. She becomes the first first-team selection in program history earning the accolade at the third base position and is the first to receive the honor multiple times.

The Bears three-hole hitter compiled the most prolific offensive season in program history, setting new single-season records for batting average (.556), slugging percentage (.914), and on-base percentage (.598) — breaking standards that stood since 2005. She also became the fastest player in team history to record 100 hits, reaching the milestone in just 63 games and 199 at-bats.

A two-time Skyline Player of the Week, she led the league in OPS (1.512), RBI (59), and hits (34) and was second in home runs (4) and doubles (11).

Hartwig assembled impressive streaks this season. She recorded an impressive 18-game hitting streak and a 25-game reached base safely streak. She succumbed to just one strikeout all season, on the second-to-last day of the regular season, which snapped a streak of 46 games and 205 plate appearances dating back to March 2019 without a strikeout.

In total, the Skyline Conference received seven All-Region honorees — 45 institutions comprising the Northeast Region. Hartwig and Manhattanville's Amaya Esparza were the league's lone First Team selections.

The NFCA awards salute student-athletes from the Association's eight NCAA regions with first, second and third-team honors. NFCA member coaches voted on the teams in their respective regions, and all honorees are eligible for selection to the 2021 NFCA Division III All-America squads.
