O’Donnell Garners All-Met First Team Honors

O’Donnell Garners All-Met First Team Honors

NEW YORK — Junior Kelly O'Donnell (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund Prep) was selected to the All-Met Division III women's basketball first team as announced today by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association.

After leading the league in scoring and finishing in the top five in the nation, O'Donnell adds to a growing list of firsts in St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's basketball history. An All-Met second-team selection last season, she becomes the first to receive first-team honors and is the only Bear to ever be honored by the MBWA. She is also the first to earn D3hoops.com All-Region recognition, also a first-team selection this year.

A three-time All-Skyline honoree and the first to receive first-team honors, O'Donnell was earlier named Skyline Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Year, the program's first.

The 5-foot-10 guard was one of the most prolific scorers in the nation producing double-figures in all but one of 28 games this season and was one of two players in the league to average a double-double with a Skyline-leading 21.8 points per game and 10.0 rebounds per game.

En route to pouring in 609 points this season that placed her fifth in Division III, O'Donnell crossed two milestones this season — scoring her 1,000th and 1,500th career points. The top career scorer among all juniors, she will enter her senior season with 1,555 points and 766 rebounds.

O'Donnell led the Bears to runner-up honors in the 2020 Skyline Conference Championship, capping their season with an 18-10 record — the most wins in the team's NCAA era and the most wins since the 2005-06 season.
