Cedar Crest Pulls Away From Women’s Soccer in Second Half

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's soccer team (3-4) traveled to Cedar Crest College for their final non-conference game of 2018 on Tuesday night, falling 5-0 for their second-straight loss.

How It Happened
The game started slowly for both sides as each team had attempted just one shot (both saved) during the first 20 minutes of play. At halftime, it was still scoreless, but Cedar Crest outshot the Bears 13-3 over the opening 45 minutes. However, freshman goalkeeper Reem Shaban (Brooklyn, N.Y./New Utrecht) came away with four saves to keep things tied before intermission.

Cedar Crest opened the scoring immediately in the second as unassisted goals from Michelle Yawger and Erika D'Angelo within 20 seconds of each other had to hosts up 2-0 (47'). A minute later Yawger found Adrianna Tennis for the Falcons' third tally in the first three minutes of the period and a sudden 3-0 advantage. Cedar Crest found the back of the net again in the 58th and 82nd minutes to secure victory and improve to 5-2 on the season.

For the Bears

  • Sophomore captain Deserae Sequeira (Clark, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) fired two shots that were both saved.
  • Anisah Molic (Staten Island, N.Y./Susan E. Wagner) attempted the Bears' two other shots on the night.
  • Shaban came away with seven saves in defeat.
