Sequeira Named Skyline Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week

NEW YORK — Leading the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's soccer team to a season-opening victory by playing a part in five goals in a 6-3 triumph over Gallaudet University, junior Deserae Sequeira (Clark, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) has been named the Skyline Conference Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office earlier today.

Sequeira found the back of the net four times on Sunday, her final tally in the 69th minute tying the program record for goals scored by a Bear—marking her 43rd career goal in her 34th collegiate game played.

She also added an assist on the Bears' final goal in the 85th minute for her ninth point to seal the first season-opening win since 2014.

The honor is the sixth weekly accolade—four Player of the Week, two Rookie of the Week—collected by the two-time First-Team All-Skyline selection.

Sequeira and the Bears (1-0) open a three-game homestand at Aviator Field hosting York College on Wednesday, September 4 starting at 7 p.m. Live stats and video will be available on sjcbears.com/live.
