Women’s Soccer Drops Non-Conference Decision to Lehman

BRONX, N.Y. —  Freshman Bethany Perez (Phelan, Calif./Serrano) scored the lone goal for St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) in a 3-1 loss to Lehman College on Saturday afternoon.

The Bears (3-2-1) suffer their second straight defeat after going unbeaten over the first four while the Lightning (2-2) level their record back to .500.

How it Happened

The Lightning struck first from the penalty spot in the 24th minute off the foot of Melanie Siranaula for the lone goal in the first half.

It remained a one-goal game until just over 20 minutes left to play when Melanie Huerta scored an unassisted tally and they added another insurance goal in the 79th minute.

Perez tallied her first collegiate goal with just under five minutes in regulation taking a feed from Hayden Reis (McDonough, Ga./Community Christian School) who logged her first career point on the assist.

For the Bears

  • The Bears were held to four shots with Perez, Reis, Julia Lavelle (Bayside, N.Y./Mary Louis Academy), and Ashley Vozella (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic) each registering a shot.
  • Reem Shaban (Brooklyn, N.Y./New Utrecht) finished with 11 saves in a losing effort.
