Women’s Soccer Stumbles in Home Opener With CCNY

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, NY (Brooklyn) women's soccer team (1-2) dropped a 3-0 non-conference decision to the City College of New York (1-0-1) on Saturday afternoon at Aviator Field.

How it Happened

The Beavers jumped ahead early scoring in the sixth minute as Skylar Parker slipped past the Bears defense and went in on goal. Parker struck again eight minutes later. All the game's scoring happened in the first 27 minutes as CCNY move ahead 3-0 with a ball in the box deflecting off a Bears defender.

For the Bears

  • Katherine Barrios (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck), Mia Castaneda (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck), and Ashley Pintado (Jackson Heights, N.Y./Christ the King) each finished with two shots on goal
  • Julia Marin (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull)  finished with six saves in a losing effort.
