Women’s Swimming Picks Up Win Over Old Westbury at Skyline Quad

NEWBURGH, N.Y. — In their final meet of the calendar year, the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's swimming team defeated SUNY College at Old Westbury 115-49, but dropped a close 98-88 decision to Purchase College and fell to hosts Mount Saint Mary, 148-45, on Saturday afternoon.

St. Joseph's wraps up the 2019 portion of their schedule with a 5-8 mark and 2-3 in Skyline meets.

Bears Top Swims

Senior Kathryn Cosenza (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) collected a pair of individual second-place finishes in the 50-yard backstroke (37.96) and the 50-yard freestyle (29.40) and was part of the second-place 200-yard medley relay and third-place 400-yard freestyle relay.

Seniors Rebecca Bollmann (Broad Channel, N.Y./Monsignor McClancy) also earned second-place points in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:29.58) and helped the 200-yard medley relay squad to second place.

Freshman Meghan Corbett (Broad Channel, N.Y./Monsignor McClancy) captured third place in the 50-yard backstroke (38.41) and logged a fourth-place finish in the 50-yard breaststroke.

Senior Jessica Gnad (Brooklyn, N.Y./Leon M. Goldstein) earned third-place points in the 100-yard butterfly and was a part of both scoring relay quartets.

The Bears return to the pool in the new year heading to sibling rivals St. Joseph's (Long Island) on Saturday, January 4th for a Skyline dual meet starting at 1 p.m.
