Women's Tennis Celebrates Senior Night Against SJC Long Island; Home Match vs. Manhattanville Postponed

FLUSHING, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's tennis team (3-7, 1-4) suffered a 9-0 defeat to St. Joseph's College (Long Island) (8-2, 5-1) in Skyline Conference play on Tuesday evening at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

How It Happened

Senior Daniella Alva (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) played a hard-fought singles match on Senior Night dropping a 7-5, 6-3 decision in the No. 4 position.

Ashleigh Hartwig (Santee, Calif./West Hills), Valentina Velez Valencia (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Kearney), and Katie Estes (Richmond, Vt./Mt. Mansfield Union) each took a pair of games off their opponents in losing efforts in the top three singles matches.

Wednesday's Home Match vs. Manhattanville Postponed

With the forecast for rain throughout the day on Wednesday, the Skyline home finale against Manhattanville College has been postponed. It has been rescheduled to Friday, October 18 at 7 p.m. at the USTA National Tennis Center.

The Bears are scheduled to return to the USTA National Tennis Center on Saturday, October 19 for a non-conference road match against John Jay starting at 11 a.m.
