Hartwig Wins at Singles as Women’s Tennis Wraps Up Home Slate Against Manhattanville
FLUSHING, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's tennis team suffered an 8-1 defeat to Manhattanville College (5-5, 4-3) in Skyline Conference action on Friday night at the USTA National Tennis Center.
Sophomore Ashleigh Hartwig (Santee, Calif./West Hills) picked up the lone point for the Bears (3-8, 1-5 Skyline) in a 6-2, 6-3 straight-set win at No. 2 singles.
Senior Jennifer Garcia (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) had a strong effort collecting six games in a 6-4, 6-2 defeat in the No. 5 singles position and teaming up with rookie Raquel Ramirez (Woodhaven, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) in an 8-5 loss at No. 3 doubles.
The Bears return to the USTA National Tennis Center for a non-conference road match tomorrow, October 19 starting at 11 a.m.
