Student-Athletes Compile Strong Fall Academic Semester; 2021 Bears Scholar-Athlete Team Announced
BROOKLYN, N.Y. — For the 2021 fall semester, St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) student-athletes collectively achieved a grade point average of 3.27 with 12 of 13 teams compiling team GPAs of 3.0 or better. Additionally, student-athletes turned in 12 perfect 4.0 term GPAs.
The Department of Athletics is also proud to announce that 95 student-athletes received Bears Scholar-Athlete distinction for achieving a 3.5 or better grade point average during either the spring or fall semesters for the 2021 calendar year.
The members of the Bears Scholar-Athlete team will be recognized at halftime of the women's basketball home game on Tuesday, February 15 against Farmingdale State at 5 p.m.
"Our student-athletes continue to excel in the classroom and we are very proud of each and every one of them," commented Director of Athletics and Recreation Margaret Alaimo. "Balancing their academic, athletic, and community responsibilities is a challenging task and they continue to successfully juggle it all. We applaud them for their focus and commitment to their education."
Of the 95 scholar-athletes to receive the distinction, 24 recorded perfect 4.0 GPAs in either semester. Four student-athletes maintained perfect GPA's for the entire year— Alexis Buchanan (softball & cross country), and Jessica Mecham (softball & cross country), Sabrina Amadio (soccer), and Saige Revella (volleyball).
The Department of Athletics would like to thank all the faculty and staff for supporting the student-athletes in their academic endeavors and congratulates the members of the 2021 Scholar-Athlete Team.
