Two Islanders get baseball honors for St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn)

Tossing a complete-game conference victory over Yeshiva last Friday, St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) freshman right-hander C.J. Bunnicelli, a Monsignor Farrell HS product, was named Skyline Conference Baseball Rookie of the Week for April 16-21 announced by the league office Wednesday.

Bunnicelli went all seven innings against the Maccabees allowing seven hits, two runs (one earned), and three walks while finishing one strikeout away from tying the Bears' record, fanning 10. The Bears swept Yeshiva posting 30 runs and 24 hits during the doubleheader to pick up their second and third Skyline victories of the season.

Also garnering recognition was junior infielder Adam Schwartz, formerly of Susan Wagner HS, as he was named to the Skyline Weekly Honor Roll after batting .400 (8-for-20) on the week while driving in eight runs and scoring seven, highlighted by a 6-for-11 day against Yeshiva.
