NEW YORK — The St. Joseph's University, NY (Brooklyn) men's soccer team suffered their first loss of the season in a 1-0 non-conference defeat to New Jersey City University on Wednesday evening at Randall's Island.
How it Happened
Leonel Bravo (Astoria, N.Y./Queens Vocational & Technical) made four saves in the first to help the Bears (1-1) remain level with the visiting Gothic Knights (3-0) before Jacobo Espinosa scored the game's lone goal just before the end of the first half putting away a corner kick at the far side.
NJCU held a 17-6 shooting edge and kept SJBK to just one shot on goal to capture the win.
For the Bears
- Bravo finished with six saves in defeat.
- Victor Naci (Bordeaux, France/Bernard Palissy) fired off a team-high four shots.
- Emiliano Avalos (North Bellmore, N.Y./Wellington C. Mepham) recorded the lone Bears shot on goal.
