NEWARK, N.J. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. (Brooklyn) men's soccer team was handed a 6-1 defeat by Rutgers University-Newark on Tuesday night.
How it Happened
The Scarlet Raiders (1-1-1) opened the scoring courtesy of Ryan Caruso's header in the 19th minute, doubling their lead in the 36th minute. Four minutes before the intermission, Victor Naci (Bordeaux, France/Bernard Palissy) brought the Bears' (0-2) deficit back down to one courtesy of a free kick.
The hosts were unable to find the back of the net for much of the second half. However, the 73rd minute saw Rutgers-Newark score four goals in 13 minutes to clinch the 6-1 full-time result.
