Bears Tripped Up By Cannoneers

BROOKLYN, NY – In their second Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference battle of the season, St. Joseph's tennis was defeated by the Pratt Cannoneers, 8-1. The Bears drop to 0-2 on the season and in the HVMAC while Pratt, last season's HVMAC runner-up, improves to 2-2.

Sophomore Mahmoud Elsayed (Egypt/Assediq International) was the only winner for the Bears, defeating Miroslav Bauer at second singles, 10-5. This was Elsayed's first match of 2011 after going 2-2 at third singles in 2010. Elsayed and teammate Muhammad Ali Bhatti (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) lost in first doubles, 8-2.

The Bears take on their third conference foe in a row Wednesday night in their home opener against Webb. The match will be at the U.S. National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY and will commence at 6:00 pm.
