Men’s Volleyball Falls to New Jersey City at Home
BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's volleyball team suffered a straight-set loss (25-9, 25-5, 25-9) to second-place New Jersey City University on Tuesday evening in Skyline Conference play.
Despite a strong performance by Alex Helfant (Quito, Ecuador/Alliance Academy International), who lead the Bears (2-15, 0-12) in kills, digs, and service aces, the Gothic Knights (18-8, 8-3) held the Bears to 23 points in the match.
How it Happened
The Bears were unable to combat the commanding Gothic Knights who posted 45 total kills and hit .545 for the match. In each set the Bears fell to the Knights as they were only able to post kill numbers in the single digits.
For the Bears
- Helfant was a highlight for the Bears as he notched seven kills, six digs, and the Bears' lone service ace.
- Senior Rogers Hatanga Kwiringira's (Corona, N.Y./Greater New York Academy) chipped in three kills with six digs.
- Jonathan Oca (Brooklyn, N.Y./Christ the King) handed out eight assists and had four digs.
