How it Happened - Game 1

  • After McGowan retired the first two batters, the Dolphins strung together a two-out rally in the first that proved to be the difference. Katie Moos started it off with a double and Rachel Heizer and Kathryn Dalton later followed with RBI singles with Mount Saint Vincent finishing with three runs in the frame.
  • The Lady Bears threatened to counter with their own two-out rally in the home half, loading the bases on Kristin Ferrigno and Samantha Rossi singles, followed by a Gentile walk, but came away empty handed.
  • The Dolphins extended their lead with four more in the second and blew the game open with eight in the fourth, knocking six doubles in the eight-hit inning.
  • CMSV starter Mackenzie Heizer silenced the SJC bats allowing just two more baserunners and finished with eight strikeouts in the four-hit victory.

How it Happened - Game 2

  • After a lopsided opener, the finale was tightly contested. The visitors jumped ahead early once again with a two-out rally in the first, Mackenzie Heizer's single to right giving the Dolphins a 1-0 lead.
  • CMSV threatened in the second loading the bases, but SJC starter Theresa Armano worked out of the jam unscathed and it remained a 1-0 game until the fourth.
  • Samantha Rossi extended her hitting streak to 11 games with a single to open the fourth and Maria Gentile roped a double over the left fielder's head that scored Rossi from first to knot the game at 1-all
  • But a defensive lapse in the top of the fifth would plague the Lady Bears as back-to-back errors to open in the frame led to the deciding runs. The Dolphins would tack on one insurance run in the seventh and SJC sprinkled just two more hits in the final three frames.

  • Samantha Rossi (3-for-5, R) led the Lady Bears with three hits, extending her hitting streak to 11 games, and scored the lone SJC run.

  • Kristin Ferrigno (2-for-5) and Samantha Simon (2-for-7) both hit successfully in both ends.
  • Theresa Armano went the distance in the circle in game two and was stuck with the loss, with only two of her four runs coming earned.

For the Dolphins

  • Rachel Heizer paced the Dolphins with a 7-for-8 day with four doubles, driving in three RBI and scoring four times.
