Trani Selected as Skyline Conference Softball Player of the Week

NEW YORK — After an impressive week at the plate in leading the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) softball team to four wins, sophomore Nicole Trani (Staten Island, N.Y./Moore Catholic) has been named the Skyline Conference Softball Player of the Week, announced by the league office this afternoon.

Over a six-game stretch where she batted successfully in each game and recorded four multi-hit efforts, Trani assembled a .706 batting average (12-for-17), 1.471 slugging percentage, and .737 on-base percentage.

The sophomore highlighted her week smashing three home runs in the series against St. Joseph's College (Long Island), including solo blasts in back-to-back at-bats in Sunday's opener that jump-started the Bears come-from-behind victory in a crucial league matchup with playoff implications. She now leads the Skyline Conference with five home runs on the year.

Trani finished the week accumulating eight RBI, eight runs scored, three home runs, four doubles, two walks, and a stolen base.

She collects her second weekly award of the season after named Rookie of the Week on March 30th. It is the fifth weekly accolade collected by a Bear this season with Ashleigh Hartwig a two-time Player of the Week honoree and Jessica Mecham a Pitcher of the Week.

St. Joseph's (17-6, 12-6) wraps up the regular season with a four-game set against Manhattanville College this weekend. Currently in playoff position, the Bears will try to lock up one of the four spots in the 2021 Skyline Conference Softball Championship set for May 14-16.
