Hartwig Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District® Softball Team

BROOKLYN, N.Y. —  Adding to her already decorated career, St. Joseph's University Brooklyn senior Ashleigh Hartwig (Santee, Calif./West Hills) has been named to the 2022 CoSIDA Academic All-District® Softball First Team, announced earlier today.

Selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, the Academic All-District® Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

Hartwig is the first softball student-athlete in program history to receive the distinction and the sixth Bear student-athlete in any sport all time.

"Ashleigh exemplifies what it means to be a scholar-athlete. Her achievements on the field as well as in the classroom are extraordinary," commented Head Coach Danielle Fazzolare. "This award is a compliment to the unwavering discipline and work ethic she possesses."

Earlier this week, the senior third-baseman capped off her illustrious career having been named Skyline Conference Softball Player of the Year for the third-straight season. She is the first St. Joseph's student-athlete to earn multiple Player of the Year honors and the first to earn All-Conference honors in multiple sports — also garnering All-Skyline honors on the tennis court. She was also named the Athletic Department's Female Athlete of the Year at the year-end Awards Banquet last week.

Hartwig leaves her mark on the Bears record book as the all-time leader in batting average (.521), slugging percentage (.791), on-base percentage (.569), doubles (49), total bases (269), and assists (230). The three-time All-Skyline First Team honoree is also second all-time in hits (177), runs batted in (127), and home runs (11). She accomplished these marks despite playing just 12 games in a shortened 2020 season and a 2021 conference-only schedule.

Ranked fourth in Division III in batting and on-base percentage this season, over her career she struck out just five times in 391 plate appearances.

Off the field, the chemistry and mathematics major maintained a 3.72 cumulative grade point average. Hartwig was also heavily involved in numerous student organizations on campus and held multiple leadership positions. She was the president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee this year, served on the executive board of the Beta Upsilon Delta Sorority and St. Joseph's Computer Club, and was a resident advisor at the residence hall.

Hartwig and the first-team Academic All-District® honorees from 10 districts will advance to the national ballot, where first-, second-, and third-team CoSIDA Academic All-America® Teams will be announced in June.
