BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. (Brooklyn) women's soccer team opened the 2023 season with a 4-0 win over Yeshiva University on Friday afternoon from Aviator Field.
How it Happened
Following a scoreless first half, sophomore Katherine Barrios (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) -- four minutes shy of the hour mark -- courtesy of Sabrina Amadio's pass (Douglaston, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy). The 75th minute saw the Bears (1-0, 1-0 Skyline) net a pair of goals in five minutes; beginning with Casey Hobbs' (Surprise, Ariz./Valley Vista) strike followed by Barrios' brace with 10 minutes remaining. Bethany Perez (Phelan, Calif./Serrano) capped off the scoring at the 87-minute mark as she played a through-ball from Lauren Lynch (Broad Channel, N.Y./Monsignor McClancy) and chipped the Yeshiva (0-1, 0-1) goalkeeper to confirm the 4-0 result.
