PURCHASE, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. (Brooklyn) women's soccer team dropped their second consecutive Skyline Conference match, falling to Purchase College, 3-0, on Tuesday evening.
How it Happened
The first half was largely even; both sides fired off six shots and attempted a corner each. However, with less than 10 minutes in the half, the Panthers took a 1-0 lead thanks to a goal from over 40 yards out. They took the one-goal advantage into the halftime break.
The Bears kept the hosts off the board for much of the second period with Julia Marin (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) making five saves. Purchase did add to their lead, scoring a pair of insurance goals in the final seven minutes to finalize the 3-0 result.
For the Bears
- Bethany Perez (Phelan, Calif./Serrano) had a match-high seven shots.
- Perez and Ashley Chimborazo (Elmhurst, N.Y./Maspeth) each had two shots on goal.
- Marin stopped six of the nine shots she faced.
