Lady Bears Fall to SUNY Purchase

Olivia O'Hara (Brooklyn, NY/Fontbonne Hall) set two season's bests as the St. Joseph's College women's swim team (1-2) lost to Purchase College 77-40. First, in the 200 yard intermediate, O'Hara broke three minutes for the first time this season, finishing in 2:59.28. Later, in the 100 yard backstroke, O'Hara finished second in 1:22.11. She also paced the 200 yard freestyle relay to a first place finish with a time of 2:05.47.

Swimming in her first meet of the season, sophomore Laura Sonnylal (Richmond Hill, NY/Archbishop Molloy) narrowly missed placing first in the 50 yard breaststroke. Her time of 42.05 was edged only by Danielle Sweeny who finished in 41.44. Alison Nunziata (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Kearney) was in two thrilling heats, the 100 yard individual medley and the 50 yard fly. In both events she finished less than three seconds behind the winner.

Kristen McMaster (Brooklyn, NY/Fontbonne Hall) had another solid meet, finishing in second place in two events, the 100 freestyle and the 200 freestyle and Jenna DeFillippo (Brooklyn, NY/Fontbonne Hall) swam a season's best 46.98 in the 50 yard backstroke.

The Lady Bears return to the pool Wednesday, December 8th against St. Elizabeth at Brooklyn Technical High School. Meet time is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
