Two More Records Fall on Day Two as Women's Swimming Concludes Inaugural Skyline Season in Sixth

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's swimming team wrapped up their inaugural season in the Skyline Conference with a sixth place finish and set two new program records at the two-day Skyline Conference Championships hosted by Maritime College.

Senior Jillian O'Hara's (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) was the top point collector for the meet as the Lady Bears maintained their sixth place standing after day one finishing ahead of College of Mount Saint Vincent and SUNY Old Westbury after moving up two spots from their regular season finish.

How it Happened

  • Freshman Shannon Doherty opened day two of the meet lowering her own record in the 100-yard freestyle by nearly two seconds touching the wall in 1:01.94. She earned a seventh place finish, the highest of by a Lady Bear in the meet.
  • Senior Jillian O'Hara earned two ninth-place finishes in the 200-yard breaststroke (3:07.54) and swimming a personal-best 2:44.21 in the 200-yard individual medley.
  • Senior Morgan Summers collected a pair of 10th place finishes in the 100-yard freestyle (1:03.48) and 200-yard backstroke (2:33.75).
  • Senior Tina Wong bettered her program record in the 100-yard butterfly (1:13.04) earning 11th place points.
  • Closing out the meet, the Lady Bears quartet of Wong, O'Hara, Doherty and Summers finished in sixth place in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
