BROOKLYN, NY - The St. Joseph's College women's volleyball team picked up their third victory of the season Tuesday night, thanks in part to career games from junior outside hitter Kim Matthews (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Kearney) and senior setter Melissa Simo (Brooklyn, NY/Midwood).  The Lady Bears disposed of the Pratt Cannoneers in five sets, 22-25, 25-10, 25-22, 18-25, 15-11.

The Lady Bears had a chance to put the Cannoneers away in the fourth set, but were unable to do so as they were upended 25-18.  The game was tight until Pratt went on a 9-0 to go up 20-11.  Erin Johnson had three service aces in the run to force a fifth set.

In the fifth and final set, the Lady Bears scored first and never relinquished the lead.  They survived a late 7-2 Pratt run to hold on for a 15-11 victory.  Matthews stepped up big when it mattered most, connecting on seven of her match-high 18 kills to put the Cannoneers away.
