Women's Volleyball Sweeps Medgar Evers Winning Second Straight
BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Senior Lauren GaNun (Breezy Point, N.Y./Fontbonne Hall) slammed a match-high 11 kills as the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's volleyball team won their second straight match, cruising to a 3-0 (25-13, 25-11, 25-17) victory over Medgar Evers College on Thursday evening.
How It Happened
- St. Joseph's took control of each set early in the frame and never trailed by more than one point to start the first and second sets.
- The Lady Bears combined for 26 kills, doubling the output of the hosts, and hit a season-best .191 for the contest, and served 11 aces.
For the Lady Bears (2-2)
- GaNun committed only one attack error for an efficient .476 hitting percentage and brought up six digs.
- Nina DiCioccio matched GaNun's 11.0 points, slamming seven kills and landing four aces, also bringing up a team-high seven digs.
- Anna Carbone dished out 19 assists and chipped in four kills.
For the Cougars (0-9)
- Kalifa Roberts led the Medgar Evers attack with five kills and added eight digs on the defensive end.
- AnnMarie Benberry fell one assist shy of a double-double with a match-best 10 digs and nine assists.
