Ramirez Leads Women’s Cross Country in Season-Opening Meet at Purchase
PURCHASE, N.Y. — Junior Rebeca Ramirez (Woodhaven, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) finished in 36th place and paced the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's cross country team to a 10th place finish at the Purchase College Invitational on Saturday morning.
For the St. Joseph's
- Ramirez clocked in at 25:58 for the 5-kilometer course
- Sophomores Shannon Doherty (27:11) and Victoria Mahoney (27:17) came across the line next for SJC in 49th and 50th place.
- Junior Katie Wenzler (32:16) and freshman Tamarre Phajou (35:47) rounded out the scoring five for the Bears.
Notable
- It was the first race in a Bears singlet for Mahoney and Phajou.
- Farmingdale State won the overall team competition, besting the 10-team field that also featured five Skyline Conference teams.

- St. Joseph's harriers are back in action in Saturday, September 17th at the Bard College Invitational at 11 a.m.
