St. Joseph’s (Brooklyn) takes The Hill Center floor for the final time in the 2021-22 season when they welcome Farmingdale State College. Prior to the opening tip, the program will celebrate the careers of Joseph Ghotra, Chris Mikos, and Richie Simon in Senior Night ceremonies.

In their penultimate home game last Saturday, the Bears and SUNY Old Westbury alternated leads for much of the game before the Panthers outlasted SJC by three, 81-78. Neither side possessed a double-figure lead over the 40 minutes.

Mikos fueled the Bears behind 27 points on 10-of-16 from the floor, 10 rebounds, and five assists. Evan Sirakis recorded 15 points and four assists. The duo scored more than half of the navy and gray’s point total on a combined 17-of-31 shooting. Anderson Beltre and James Mojica each finished with nine points. Beltre collected nine caroms and dished out five assists while Mojica grabbed four boards. Joe Sheehan produced eight points, five rebounds, and three assists.

Averaging 34.3 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 5.7 assists with 64% shooting over three games last week, Mikos was named Skyline Player of the Week — the first Player of the Week honor garnered by a Bear since the 2015-16 season.

Mikos overtook Sarah Lawrence’s Justin Bailey for the top spot in the conference with 10.7 rebounds per game. The senior remains second in the Skyline with 22.0 points per game.

The Bears opened 2022 with a defeat to the Rams. Sirakis scored a team-high 10 points while Mikos and Chris Tracy each finished with nine points. Ghotra contributed eight points in the losing effort.

Farmingdale State enters tonight’s meeting with SJC Brooklyn as winners of eight straight. After dealing then-No. 6 Yeshiva their first league defeat since the 2019 Skyline Championship Final on February 5, head coach Brendan Twomey’s side sits atop the conference South Division with a 12-2 league mark.

The Rams had four players in double figures in each of their two games last week. Dominique Senat paced FSC behind a 19-point, 10-rebound double-double last Wednesday against SJC Long Island while Corey Powell dropped a team-leading 18 points against Mount Saint Vincent last Saturday. Nick Hurowitz turned in a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds against the Dolphins. Posting double-figure point totals in each of the last 12 outings, the sophomore guard averaged 14.6 points during the Rams’ eight-game unblemished run.

With 11.7 points per game this season, Hurowitz sits second on the team in scoring sandwiched between Senat, whose 13.4 points leads the squad, and Powell’s 11.2 points in third. Senat’s 7.8 boards per game are good for sixth in the Skyline while Hurowitz’s 6.0 rebounds place him 19th. Tre Riggins is third on the team with 4.2 rebounds.

Senat registered 14 points and 11 rebounds in the Rams’ 90-51 win over SJC in January. Aaron Davis logged 13 points and Hurowitz and Jaden Barwicki each dropped 11 points.
