Siekierski Hired as Facility Manager for Hill Center

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) Athletic Director Frank P. Carbone is proud to announce the hiring of Maciej Siekierski (pronounced mah-CHAY SICK-yer-SKI) as the facility manager for the new Sister Elizabeth Hill Center, currently in construction on Vanderbilt Avenue. Siekierski joined the athletics staff in a full-time capacity and will also serve as intramural and recreation coordinator.

Siekierski will draw from his experience at the highest levels, working facility and game-day operations for the NFL New York Jets, Division I St. John's University, Division II C.W. Post (now LIU Post) and Division III SUNY New Paltz.

The Middle Village, N.Y. native makes his second stint with the athletic department, having served as the head coach for the inaugural men's soccer team and compliance coordinator in 2010.

"Its thrilling to be back here, with the great staff and student-athletes here creating a family atmosphere, I feel like I'm home," Siekierski added.

"We're extremely happy and fortunate to have Maciej back on staff. His experience will be a tremendous asset as we enter a new era in Athletics on the Brooklyn Campus with our first true on-campus athletic venue," Carbone remarked.

Since returning to Clinton Hill last month, Siekierski has been heavily involved in the day-to-day projects for the Hill Center, which enters the final stages of construction and has drawn a buzz among the SJC community.

"I'm hoping to bring an 'awe-factor' with the new facility to students, faculty, and the entire community with this empty canvas," said Siekerski. "I want [the facility] to leave an indelible mark on the school."

Prior to St. Joseph’s, Siekierski worked as an assistant director for facilities and operations in the athletic department at St. John's University. Siekierski was in charge of all the day-to-day operations of all on-campus athletic facilities along with running athletic events for all 17 varsity Division I sports.

"Working for five years at a Division I school like St. John's can obviously be demanding, which included dealing with upkeep for two indoor facilities and four outdoor fields," he added. "To bring that experience here is great."

Siekierski obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in business management from SUNY New Paltz in 2006 and received his Master of Science degree in Sports Management from St. John’s University in 2010.

As part of his volunteer work, Siekierski is part of the Vincentian Mission Program and serves on the committee for Strides Against Breast Cancer, a part of the American Cancer Society.
