Cutrone Awarded AD3I Baseball Player of the Week Honors

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Sophomore Chris Cutrone (Levittown, NY/Island Trees HS) was named baseball Player of the Week by the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) for his outstanding performance at the plate and on the mound in helping lead St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) to a 3-0 week.

Cutrone has been the hottest hitter for the Bears during the eight-game stretch to open the season and batted 7-for-11 (.636) with seven RBI, five runs scored and three stolen bases over three games last week. The second baseman/pitcher extended his hitting streak, dating back to last season, to 12 games. Making an appearance on the mound against Mount Saint Vincent, the sophomore tossed his third complete game win (7 IP, 7H, 4ER, 4K) and supported his own cause as he went 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBI. Cutrone currently leads the team with his .625 batting average and three wins on the mound this season and is second on the team with 10 RBI.

The AD3I award is the first earned by the sophomore this season but was named AD3I Player of the Week on April 18th of last year and was an AD3I First Team selection. The second baseman/pitcher follows teammate first baseman Mike Cundari (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) who took home the Player of the Week honor last week.

St. Joseph's returns to action this weekend as they travel to Boston for a three-game trip beginning with a doubleheader matchup with Emerson on Saturday, March 23rd with first pitch set for 1 p.m.
