McKenna Secures AD3I Player of the Week Honors

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – For his outstanding performance at the plate this past week, St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) outfielder Thomas McKenna (Bellerose, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) has been awarded the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) baseball Player of the Week.

The senior had a .500 batting average, going 5-for-10 with three RBI and three runs scored to go along with two stolen bases in three games as the Bears went 2-1 this week. He plated two runs batted in and a run scored in a victory over Maritime (N.Y.) on April 15th.

McKenna then finished 4-for-8 with two runs and an RBI in a doubleheader split with Briarcliffe on April 19th to extend his hitting streak to 12 games, matching a team high set by both himself earlier this season and Chris Cutrone. This is first time this season he has won the AD3I Player of the Week accolade, and the third time in his career. He becomes the third Bear this season to have won AD3I Player of the Week honors this year.

Up next for the Bears (13-15), they will head to the Bronx to take on Yeshiva in a rescheduled game Wednesday night at Taft High School. First pitch is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
