BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Recognizing his four-hit shutout over Purchase College, St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) senior pitcher/infielder Brian Luebcke (Astoria, N.Y./Monsignor McClancy) has been named the Skyline Conference Baseball Co-Pitcher of the Week for games played April 11 to 17, the league office announced this afternoon.

Luebcke continues his outstanding senior campaign receiving his first Pitcher of the Week nod, for his league-leading fourth weekly award this season, also collecting Player of the Week honors on March 14, March 28 and April 11. His name has appeared in five of the six weekly reports this season, also named to the honor roll on March 21.

In his only start on the mound in the opener vs. Purchase on Sunday, Luebcke dazzled at home recording just the second nine-inning complete game shutout in Bears history. The hurler struck out seven and walked none, facing two batters over the minimum as the Bears cruised to a 9-0 league win. It was also his second career shutout, moving him into a four-way tie atop the Bears record book for shutouts.

At the dish, he was also the top run producer driving in five RBI over the four-game week, padding his league lead in the category with 40. Luebcke also leads the Skyline in slugging (.687), home runs (6), doubles (14), total bases (79) and sacrifice flies (5).

On the hill, the righty also leads the league in innings pitched (49.0) and improving to 4-1 on the season, now is tied for second in wins and ranks third in strikeouts (42).

Junior Francis Rapp (Baldwin, N.Y./Oceanside) also earned a spot on the weekly honor roll leading the team last week at the plate compiling a .538 average (7-for-13) with a RBI and three runs scored. The shortstop was consistent all week knocking a hit in all four games with three multi-hit efforts. It his his second time receiving honor roll recognition.

Posting a 2-2 record in Skyline play on the week, the Bears (14-15, 5-5) now sit in tournament position in sixth place and just one game behind fourth.  St. Joseph's has a busy week upcoming with seven games in five days opening a three-game non-conference road stand on Wednesday, April 20th at CUNYAC foe John Jay College in a single game at Randall's Island starting at 4 p.m.
